Ah, the holiday season. A time for family, joy, and letâs be honestâone too many slices of pie and a few extra glasses of wine. Itâs no wonder research shows the average person gains 7-10 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Yearâs.
If youâre feeling like you should just punt your goals until January 1st, let me stop you right there. Itâs not about being perfectâitâs about staying consistent, keeping things simple, and giving yourself grace to enjoy this time of year while still prioritizing your health.
Simple Ways to not Get Got this Holiday SeasonâŚ
1ď¸âŁ Set Non-Negotiables: Start every day with a 10-minute movement session or prioritize your protein intake. Whether itâs a walk, bodyweight exercises while youâre making a morning coffee, or making sure you get lean protein in for dinner, it adds up!
2ď¸âŁ Hydrate Before Indulging: Before a big meal or party, drink a full glass of water. Itâs a small habit that reduces the likelihood of overindulgence and can help build body awareness of your hunger vs. thirst cues, which are commonly mistaken for one another.
3ď¸âŁ Plan Your Favorites: Love your grandmaâs stuffing or holiday cookies? Go ahead and enjoy them guilt-free, but be intentionalâload up on protein and veggies first to balance your plate.
The holidays donât have to derail your progress. Instead of pressing pause, use this season to focus on small, sustainable habits that set you up for success in the New Year.
